The heat is on and the first official day of summer is quickly approaching! With school out for most students already, it’s time to enjoy all that summer has to offer. However, just because it’s summer doesn’t mean that we can’t still learn (and most importantly) have fun!

To keep students’ minds and bodies at peak performance, consider holding a summer-long STEAM Olympics! If you’re looking for something seasonal, fun, and a bit competitive, read on to learn how to hold your own Summer STEAM Olympics.

What is a Summer STEAM Olympics?

A Summer STEAM Olympics consists of five weeks of themed competitions and activities. Each week is focused on a different component of STEAM:

  • S - Science
  • T - Technology
  • E - Engineering
  • A - Arts
  • M - Mathematics

Throughout each week, students will take part in various activities around that particular STEAM component. At the end of each week, scores for activity points can be tallied and stored for the end of summer STEAM Olympics ceremony.

Who Can Participate?

If you have your own children or are looking for ways to entertain those in your community, this is a great activity to get kids collaborating and learning all summer long!

Due to the nature of these activities, the Summer STEAM Olympics can work for individual kiddos all the way up to large summer camp-sized groups! Be sure to follow any local, state, and national health guidelines throughout the process!

End of Summer Ceremony

At the end of the five week Summer STEAM Olympics, consider holding a closing ceremony decked out with cool drinks and fun snacks. If you’re feeling extra creative, try decorating to suit the mood too! Check out our curated list of ideas for holding a closing ceremony.
